'The more lifelike it becomes, the more it transports you.'
Simon Williams, president of the marketing firm Sterling Group, on videogame culture.
To him, the key to the success of a videogame is the immersion experience that it offers.
"It's like reading a book and watching a movie," he says of such involvement.
Instead of passive, mindless escapism such as while watching TV, a videogame is active, complex, multilayered escapism.
Consider that Madden NFL 2005 sold 1.3 million copies at $46 a pop (that's $59,800,000) in the first week of its release.
That's why, as soon as it becomes reasonably affordable and doable for technodolt bookofjoe, I'm going live, with WBOJ/KBOJ, broadcasting in living color, in real time, 24/7/365.
Real soon now, as they say in the Valley.
No, not Death Valley; rather, the Silicon version.

I think the real Valley in question here (at least regarding digital things becoming more lifelike) is the Uncanny Valley.
