Bad Breath Phone

Gas_mask

Siemens Mobile is developing the first mobile phone that will alert users when their breath is bad or if they are giving off offensive smells.

The phone will use a tiny "ceramic sensorized" chip measuring less than one millimeter square to detect unpleasant odors.

The microchip triggers a high-pitched sound from the phone if exposed to bad or food-tainted breath.

Siemens expects the chip to be built into its next-gen handsets.

Other uses for the sensor technology include watches that alert wearers to atmospheric pollution, monitoring alchohol consumption for drivers, carbon monoxide and fire detection, and weather prediction.

Possible uses in the health arena include detection of stomach ulcers, cancer, cystic fibrosis, asthma, and subclinical cancers.
