BehindTheMedspeak: What's in your water?

Who knew that there was an Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water (OGWDW) tucked away in the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)?
And that the website offers you a free report on your water quality if your home is served by a public water system (i.e., if you don't use a well)?
Under the Safe Drinking Water Act, the agency is required to tell you:
• What contaminants have been found in your water
• What the level of each contaminant is
After you've read your report, you may want to go further, and test for things not measured by the EPA.
If so, you need to find a state-certified laboratory.
Depending on how many contaminants you want to test for, count on paying from $15 to many hundreds of dollars for detailed results.

I just bought water filter systems that attach to the sink and shower. Not that expensive--$159 for the two. I'll be filling my 3-oz. bottles with the stuff before getting on a plane.

I have only been aware of your blog for a few days now, but it has changed my life!!
I am hooked. I've spent the last few minutes looking up the violations of my utility district, and plan on getting a report on the quality of the water...why did I not think about this on my own?
I turned down a flu shot yesterday, citing your reasons, and was called a wimp. I don't want the flu, but I don't want to be hooked to a respirator either!
I'm rambling here...I need to get some sleep...I'm going out tomorrow to try and find one of those drain opening gadgets...should I try Lowe's?
Your newest fan :-)
