BehindTheMedspeak: Synaesthesiologists

Definition

What's this?

A new subspecialty in my field?

How come I haven't heard about it before today?

Wait a minute.

It's a program designed by David Last and Benton-C to showcase a range of work by contemporary audiovisualists.

So they're artists, not doctors.

Well, then.

Now I'm interested.

'Cause doctors bore me.

Medical school bored me, because all my classmates were boring.

But artists interest me.

Anyway - you can see "Synaesthesiologists" at the Virginia Film Festival here in Charlottesville this coming Thursday night, October 28, at 10 p.m. at Regal Cinema 4.

Then on Friday the 29th, at 9 p.m., there's a costume and dance party.

"Expect beautiful video projections and club music hypnosis from three members of New York City's best audiovisual crews."

Party admission is $15 for the public, $10 for students.

More information here.

Hi.

I'm an MFA student in Media Studies working on a project entitled Chemical Proust that explores the phenomenological implications of artifical smells and flavors.

It seems there's an imbrication in our projects/fields. Please backchannel if you're interested in talking to me about my project.

Thanks.
