Radical Honesty
This movement, self-described as a cult, is quite popular.
Its credo is simple: "The honest sharing of information, feelings, and thoughts is the elixir of life, and the saving grace of humankind."
That may well be.
But I know of lives shattered and people destroyed as a result of a determination always to tell the truth.

I'm typing this and I'm not wearing any underwear.
Is that radically honest enough? :)

I've read both. My research concerns civility and rhetoric; my practice, writing and documents that work.
Bok's book is better. Living as we do in simultaneous, overlapping spin zones, her analysis of political and commercial communication serves as a beacon.
I appreciate the sentiment of the other book, but the author misses the point of courtesy, restraint, and social lubrication.
What typically ensues when radical honesty is applied within homes and other non professional and apolitical communities is hurt, distance, and sometimes fracture.
