Allianz Arena — Munich's spectacular new soccer stadium
OK, OK, football, since most of the world calls it that and since — at least between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. Eastern Time — over 50% of bookofjoe's audience is based outside the U.S.
In any case, Herzon and de Meuron, the Swiss architects behind London's spectacular Tate Modern and the upcoming main stadium for the 2012 Beijing Olympics, have created a stunning venue for sport.
The stadium (above and below) changes color depending on who's playing: on match days it glows red for Bayern Munich, blue for local rivals TSV 1860 or white for the national team.
The 66,000–seat structure's quilted facade is clad in hundreds of electronically–controlled, inflated cushions whose color can be changed in an instant.

we were invited to the opening game in the allianz arena and it is a amazing stadium. we have seen quite a few but this one rocks. but we also miss the old olympic stadium since this has such a tradtion (worlcup, olympic games,...). btw really nice pictures
