bookofjoe a worldwide phenomenon
Where in the world is not Carmen Sandiego but, rather, bookofjoe most visualized from at this moment?
The map above tells me that at least 63% of my traffic is currently emanating from outside the U.S.
I say "at least" because people in South America and Canada can't be distinguished from those in the States with the longitudinal–style time zone mapping shown above.
Nearly 50% of bookofjoe visitors are in Europe as I type these words.
So bon jour, bon giorno, buenos dias, guten tag, etc. to everyone.
Hope you're having as fine a day as I am.
My morning ritual here at the keyboard is as follows:
1) Turn on the machine, then either put in a CD or let iTunes randomly choose from around 700 songs.
2) Check the email that came in while I was sleeping. I get 30–50 overnight, about half spam. Lots of Russian spam lately: hey, guys, it's true both my parents speak Russian but I don't so whatever you're offering hasn't a prayer with me.
3) Check technorati (the link under the comments) to see who's linked to me in the past day. I've found a number of wonderful sites and met some very cool people that way.
4) Check my traffic for the past day, and see who's linking to me today. When someone like Peter Rojas over at engadget features one of my posts, traffic goes through the roof for a few hours.
5) Check the first few posts on bookofjoe that've appeared, to make sure they've actually shown up as scheduled. The web's still a little squirrelly and stuff happens from time to time for no apparent reason.
Hey, now that I stop to think about it for a moment, that's a lot like life.
At least, my life.
