Automatic Closet Light
About two years ago at Lowe's I saw a battery–powered closet light you could tap to turn on, but with a new feature: automatic shut–off.
I was already checking out and the lines were horrendous so I figured I'd get some the next time I was there.
Bad move.
They disappeared and I haven't seen them since, in the store or anywhere I can locate online.
Even my research team couldn't find them.
But then yesterday I happened on the nifty device above and below.
When you open a door or drawer, a magnetic sensor moves away from the light, turning it on.
Even better: it automatically goes off when the door or drawer is shut.
It's got an LED bulb with an 80,000–hour life.
Let's see: 80,000/24 = 3,333 days and 8 hours, which is 9+ years of continuous light.
Almost seems silly to have an on/off switch, doesn't it?
Why not let it burn for a decade, then buy a new one?
Well, you could do that if batteries lasted forever but they don't.
I know, I know: don't be a hater.
OK, I hear you.
No wires, no electricity.
No tools needed to attach it: use the included adhesive strips.
Uses 3 button cell batteries (included).
2¼"L x 1¼"W x ¾"H.
Finally — light in the closet.
Next: the piazza. But I digress.
$16.95 here.
