'Tipping Not Permitted' — Time for change at bookofjoe?

So yesterday afternoon I was just sitting here, doing something close to nothing... when in came an email from TypePad, my blog hosting service.
They said I should add a TipJar (above) to bookofjoe and wrote, "If ads aren't your thing, then let your readers say 'thanks' by giving you a tip."
Wait a minute — didn't I just muse yesterday afternoon on the subject of revenue and bookofjoe's seemingly Bizarro World rejection of same?
Thought so.
I wonder if TypePad's got some sort of AI robot
that reads all the blogs it hosts and then sends targeted emails to idiots like me who bring up the always–sensitive subject of money?
Anyway, if anyone deserves a tip it's my readers for putting up with this nonsense as long as they have.
The email continued, "Add a PayPal–powered donation button to your blog and use the funds to pay for your TypePad subscription or for that new iPod Nano you've been coveting."
Ya think?
I'll pass.

C'mon Joe...
You know you want to move on over to the darkside!!!
My site was ad free for YEARS and I claimed I'd never do it...until it got popular enough we needed our own server, and then moved over to our own T1 and then realizing I was dropping a few hundred for 'goodwill' each month.
The only thing goodwill ever did for me was annoy me at Christmas with their fake santas (or was that salvation army? I always get the two confused).
Now we actually make money...we've never actually spent any of it on ourselves, but its always been nice to be able to help our readers our every so often with new services we wouldn't have been able to afford otherwise (What? You think JoeTV is going to be free??????). And we've been able to use it to help out members in more tangible ways on occasion (tracking down a net scammer last summer and sending a lawyer after him after he screwed over one of our members and was going after other communities).
You know you want to do it...we can get this place looking like the side of a Nascar and people will think its loading faster because of it.

How about a link to your Amazon Wish List?
I've had one on my site for 2 years and have received nothing.
Not that I expected anyone to use it.
Now that I think back, one of my relatives used the wish list for choosing a holiday gift for me.
Not a reader, though.
