Baseball Sluggers Postage Stamps

Kkluilghlik

The U.S. Postal Service unveiled them last Friday.

Featured are (clockwise from left above) Roy Campanella, Hank Greenburg, Mickey Mantle and Mel Ott.

What an interesting choice for the (I can only assume) first four stars.

What do you think are the chances of Barry Bonds being featured in a circa 2020 iteration?

Probably not very good, actually: I'd be surprised if Ray Kurzweil doesn't doesn't get in touch with him long before then and offer him telomere transfer or some such youth elixir–equivalent such that Bonds at age 55 is still good for 30 or so taters a year.

Besides, living people aren't supposed to appear on U.S. stamps.

Though as far as I know there's no policy yet concerning those who are mostly artifice.

w00t!

The collection pictured is set to be officially issued on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at Yankee Stadium, prior to the Yankees–White Sox tilt.
