Dan's Data — Where Daniel Rutter takes off the gloves and produces superb no–holds–barred reviews
Dan Rutter is a man to conjure with.
Whenever I see his name in bookofjoe's comments sidebar I get a frisson of excitement because I know I'm about to read something really incisive and authoritative, written with clarity and verve and a dollop of wry humor.
Dan's Data is his website: I have no idea what his day job is or if he even has one but it doesn't matter.
For starters, read his recent review of the predecessor to the "Extreme Pen" I wrote about last Friday.
Then take it to the next level with his overview entitled "Peculiar Pens."
Dan's "voice" reminds me of that of Stephen Manes, who was the Personal Computers columnist for the New York Times for years before the paper tired of his weekly caustic dismissals of the latest and greatest new new things from some of the Times' major advertisers and replaced him with the kinder, gentler David Pogue.
