Instant Wireless Doorbell
No more "I hear you knocking but you can't come in" — now you can hear the doorbell but they still can't come in.
From the website:
- This portable wireless doorbell with 16 lovely chimes or songs lets you know when friends drop by or a family member needs you.
Waterproof remote mounts easily on a door, an RV, anywhere (no tools needed).
Portable receiver works up to 262 ft. away from remote and requires three AAA batteries (not included).
Receiver: 2-1/2"W x 4-1/2"H; Remote: 2-1/2" x 1-1/2"; includes 12V battery.
Plastic.

No, they couldn't round it off to 260 or even 250 feet because that wouldn't be right.
In case you were wondering.

I hope this works better than the common tech. Rather than run wire, I tried a far more expensive version from the local megamart. The range of that unit, measured at my house, was about 4.75 feet. Which made it precisely useless.

Presumably the original range spec was 80 metres, and they converted it with unwarranted precision ( http://catless.ncl.ac.uk/Risks/24.19.html#subj11 ...).
Incidentally, modern wireless doorbells commonly have assignable send/receive channels, which is a good thing. It prevents crosstalk between identical doorbells in nearby houses, and also prevents annoying buggers, like my good self 12 years ago, from buying the same model of wireless doorbell and using the transmitter to ring your bell every time they drive past your house.

262 feet is the integer portion of 80 meters. This is one of those precision-preserving but accuracy destroying conversions.
