DirtBucket™
My name for this "patented system for separating the dirt from your [car's] wash water."
Can a bucket be too technical a tool for me to master?
It would appear so.
From the website:
- DirtGuard™ AutoWash System
Traps grit to prevent scratches and swirl marks
A patented system for separating the dirt from your wash water, DirtGuard includes a 4-gallon bucket, a super-plush chenille wash mitt and a strainer/filter unit in the bottom of the bucket.
Each time you dunk your mitt, drag it across the strainer to trap any dirt in the mesh filter — brilliant!
Just because it's not TechnoDolt™-approved doesn't mean you can't enjoy the benefits of grit trapping and swirl mark reduction.

The Dirtguard auto wash bucket is a must have. The washboard, strainer, filtration system is simple, clever and highly effective. It works! Affordable and effective! Now a serious filter in your autowash bucket. Plus you can buy the entire kit or just the washboard system.

Who wants to steal thier wifes trivet and what a waste of time, It will never work as good as the dirtguard auto wash system has worked for me. Don't steal your wifes trivet, just take care of your car, keep the car, keep the wife!

You can achieve something similar by putting the trivet from the bottom of the pressure cooker (you do have a pressure cooker, don't you?) in the bottom of the bucket. Dirt falls past and doesn't get picked up again by the sponge.
Or, you can just leave the car dirty. In the end you'll replace it and then it won't matter.
