    Matching pestle is 6¼" long.

    Made in France.

I have a marble one, essential to the Italian Cucina. But this one looks warm and sensual.

I LOVE mortar & pestles -- their honest, low-tech simplicity and beauty. (Is it mortars & pestles?) I once gave a big beautiful marble one to a relative who had a brother in the Army. When she told him about her gift, he demanded she "take that thing out and learn how to shoot it before you kill yourself playing with it."

I never learned how to shoot with mine but it sure is handy for turning stuff into powder.
