Do the math

Above, the headline from this past Saturday's Washington Post Business section front page story about the renewed discussions between the two companies about a possible merger.

The only thing I found interesting about the news was that it appeared in the Post instead of The Onion.

Combining two troubled companies is not likely to yield an improvement in either but, rather, just the opposite.
