Hefty 30 Gallon Clear Cinch Sak — Official Trash Bag of bookofjoe

517rmrpbydl_ss500_jjpoo

Why?

1) Tough

2) Large capacity

3) Widely available

4) Drawstring closure is excellent

5) Clarity is useful when it's time to go outside and recover something I need to reread or whatever

Why bother with second best?

28 bags cost $7.74.

Yet another avatar of our working philosophy here at joeworld, to wit: keep improving in everything you do and what you use to enable your life to proceed, even if it's the tiniest, seemingly most insignificant detail.

Winning 51% of the time, compounded endlessly, in the end leads to wonderful things.

Trust me....

Wasn't Tweety the spokescreature for the "reduce, re-use, recycle" thing, for a while? As in, "weduce, we-use, wecycle"?

I always thought it should've been Sylvester. In addition to the fact that he's a charming tuxedo, we could hear "redooth, re-yoothe, rethycle!" incessantly.

No, inthethantly.

Oh Lisa,

We believe in recycling -- we just want to give our grandchildren some resources to dig through after we've destroyed the world. Trust me, with the politicians and idiot masses we have voting for them, its going to happen with or without ecological restraint on the part of the few.

Hmmmm... As a reader from the UK (well, expatriot from NYC for the past 12 years!) I was shocked by the cover art on the box of Hefty bags. "It's true! It's TRUE!", I thought - "The US doesn't give a hoot about global warming and climate change!" Shame on us, Joe. Maybe white or black bags would be a better bet - then our European fellows would not see GLASS! PLASTIC! CANS! in our trash. (That's so 80's...) Have we no shame? Have we not heard of R E C Y C L I N G ??? Folks over here are busting their, er, guts recycling. It's the new black (or brown or grey...).

C'mon, guys - "Reduce, Re-use, Recycle."

Lisa (who has suddenly come over all GREEN for some reason!)

And, better still, the police won't have to waste time getting a search warrant to examine your trash - under the "plain view" doctrine.

It also makes your tossed selection of credit-card offers up front and available to those highly paid sanitation workers.

Your entire life is visible in your trash (so the anthropologists tell us) so, perhaps public display of that set of rejection letters for the latest manuscript / play / galley-proofs won't matter too much.

I'll stick with the white ones....
