The last picture looks to me like someone's artistic interpretation of string theory incorporating mushroom caps into everything. Must be leftovers from someone's political posting on this blog influencing my thought.

That last picture looks like one of Ken Strickfaden's electrical effects from the 1931 "Frankenstein."

I guess that could be a good thing...you could even make the whole area behind your desk look like a movie set with fake (or REAL!) Jacob's ladders and Tesla coils and stuff and the wires and cables could kind of add to the effect. Who sez it should be all neat and organized, anyhow?

This is so tempting. I spent the morning rearranging my office and dealing with cords. Computer, external hard drives, printer, modem, wi-fi, lamp, phone, fax, speakers. It requires a quad outlet, two surge protectors, and about 30 feet of assorted electrical cords crammed between my desk and wall. Techies and fire marshalls are blanching.
