Talking Email
I wonder if I could get this to work?
Nah, not very likely: I finally succumbed and bought a Shuffle and after hours of trying I still can't get music out of it.
Oh, well.
From the website:
- Talking Email
Special microphone plugs into USB port on your computer.
Simply press a button and begin speaking.
When you're finished recording, press the button again and then press send on your keyboard.
It's that simple.
The recipient gets your email in their inbox just like a regular email but instead of reading it, they listen to it.
And your friends don't need special software or hardware to hear your message.
Compose messages faster and easier with no more typing and no more spelling mistakes.
Includes the "eMic Monitor" software with multimedia address book which allows you to choose recipient of the email by picture/sound using the EMIC buttons.
Assign functions to each button (Record and send as attachment; record, upload and generate a link to the recording; create a memo, etc.).
Manage recordings (edit, rename, delete, etc.).
Voice editor lets you amend or continue recorded messages.
Also perfect for voice command, voice-to-text and SKYPE applications.
Includes speaker, microphone, drivers for Windows, and user manual.
System requirements: PC: Pentium 133 MHz or higher. Windows 98/ME/2000/XP MAC: PowerMAC G3 or better, MacOS 10.2.6 or later, QuickTime 6.5.1 or later.

What a truly awful thing.
For a start, few people can manage a coherent one-sided converstion; you only have to listen to the majority of answerphone messages to know that.
Then there's the junkmail - can you imagine how good a bigger member ad is going to sound?
I'm with clifyt, let's hope they crash and burn.

Its called voicemail.
WTF would anyone need to do this via computer. I know once I get voicemail, I get an email. I can listen to it via my headset or archive the message on my computer. Heck, the ONLY thing I do with this via my computer is use it to forward to other peoples PHONES. My voicemail as it is tells people that if I don't personally answer, they will get a quicker response IF THEY SEND ME AN EMAIL.
Personally, I'd write anyone off that felt the need to send me voice-emails. All the ummms and the awwwws and the awkward pauses, where I could just scan a message and not have to wait the 2 minutes it takes to explain what they need and who they are and hopefully not mispronounce their information where I won't be able to identify it without scrubbing through the audio a dozen times.
I hope this company fails and fails badly.
