Natasha Kai — Episode 2: Selections from her 15 tattoos

1kai4

After last Saturday's Episode 1, which noted in passing that Ms. Kai, nicknamed "The Flyin' Hawaiian,"

is by far the "most decorated" member of the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team,

several readers asked for examples above and beyond the formidable teaser — covering her entire right arm (top) — displayed in that post.

NotCreativeEnough, you don't just decide to be a lesbian. You've probably dated a lot of bisexual girls but no one wakes up one day and just "decides" to be gay or a lesbian.

I saw her this weekend, as her father announced she would be in the olympics. Her father is the host of the Luau @ pcc in Hawaii, Before anyone coments on her tattoo's, maybe you should look into her beliefs, background, religion, and take all into consideration.

I am a soccer fan, and a fan of tattooed women, so when I looked up Natasha Kai after she scored against Brazil I happily found this site. Now, I am also a grammar nerd, and as I read her tattoo I see no error. Read on if interested:

Disclaimer: Although I find grammar disputes very interesting, my own grammar (and writing ability) is just north of terrible.

As Lucas pointed out nearly a year ago, you can use "was" or "were" in the conditional sense. People interchange these words so often nowadays that both are generally considered correct. However many people believe (perhaps incorrectly) that you should use "were" in all such cases. So Daniel Rutter has fairly firm ground to stand on in terms of majority opinion. According to this website it depends on whether you are using the subjunctive or the indicative mood: http://grammarspammer.blogspot.com/2006/10/twenty-second-post-if-i-were-vs-if-i.html
The subjunctive refers to things that are not likely, and the indicative describes things that are probable or very likely. Maybe I am an optimist, but it looks to me like Ms. Kai willingly shares her heart with those who are fortunate enough to have read her tattoo: "When I share it with you," not IF I share it with you. (So "was" is the correct word to use.) It seems to me that since we all have read the tat we all should be very careful with this lady's heart. And if she has not already given it to us, she will certainly share it in the future.
Natasha Kai certainly has my heart, and very likely a few of yours as well. We'll need her to be at her best in the Olympics now that Abby Wambach will be out due to her injury in the same Brazil game.

yeh she hot im a guy but ill still do her even thogh she lesbian in fact when i do her she aint gonna want to be with a girl no more

she good soccer player also

Posted by: | Jul 12, 2008 11:45:44 AM

Yes I can picture it now , kissing her belly making your way around to the small of her back and there it is , a grammatical error.

I mean how could she be so careless with our mother tongue ? I would just have to say something.

Then I can ring up my friends and tell them in the grammatically correct fashion how I got kicked in the head by my ex-girlfriend lesbian soccor player.

That will learn her.

Tasha already has a new girlfriend as she's talking about the situation back in January.

I am sad that Natasha Kai was playing bad because she was sick and she was going through a bad break up with her girlfriend. She is so hot though man I would throw her down on the table and do her good. She is amazingly hot. Oh well anyways now that she is free I can take her, haha lol man she is hot.

Oh NCE, don't be so uptight. So what if your daughter gets a few tats and becomes a lesbian. Most of my ex's have tats and were lesbians at some point (either that, or they turn to that way of life after dating me).

Honestly, there are far worse things you can do with your life. And far worse things you can do to your body that aren't so obvious. That, and you just got rid of most of the worry about teen pregnancy. Heck, if I ever have kids and my daughter starts to smoke, I'm going to take her to the tattoo parlor and let her choose which bad habit she can have. And if she ever starts to date some bonehead bo-hunk with only one thing on his mind, I'm going to absolutely encourage her to date the guy and say what an expressive man he is, hidden under his rough exterior in a way that only she and I can see it -- and that I'm glad that she didn't turn into one of them evil girl-kissers because I wouldn't have that in my house because that would just be way too rebellious for my Victorian sensibilities.

I can guarantee you, within the week, she will have dumped the dude and I won't have to worry about going to father, daughter pre-natal courses ever again (at least until she gets to college, and starts experimenting with heterosexuality again just to piss off dear ol' pops because I've finally decided to let her bring her girlfriend home for Thanksgiving Dinner).

Anyone else comparing costs of convent schools for their daughters and willing to share links to such information?

Posted by: NotCreativeEnough | Nov 1, 2007 10:47:37 PM

you are right... she has a girlfriend....and might i add she is amazingly beautiful...and i am completely jealous of her gf....she is my hero..and i dont even play soccer anymore...

and about the whole "was" "were" issue...who notices that shit...i mean honestly...i stand behind the people that say its your body...and if it means something important to you...then do it...

plus what girl can pull off a sleeve? thats hot

do yo thang girl...

Posted by: lindsey | Nov 1, 2007 8:24:40 PM

She doesnt have a boyfriend, but does have a girlfriend.

Posted by: Melissa | Oct 25, 2007 11:13:09 PM

I think it's HOTT!!! With 2 T's... It's all up to her, dont judge... Do yo thang Ms. Kai

Posted by: MadDon | Sep 27, 2007 7:48:09 PM

The tatoos are fabulous, but really, you can't defend the grammar. It should be "were". But who gives a shit, that particular area of grammar is about 100 years old and we don't live there anymore.

Posted by: Bacelona | Sep 27, 2007 6:37:24 PM

Hey Daniel Rutter, maybe you need to go back to rutting. Technically it is grammatically correct to say both 'was' and 'were' in a conditional sentence such as the one above. Perhaps you should brush up on your grammar before you start criticizing a lovely lady soccer player and her life choices.

"see god kai."

HER TATTOOS ARE CRAZy..THEyRE WELL DONE..OBViOUSLy SHE PLANNED THEM OUT WELL..iT LOOKSz AMAZiNG..HER n KAT..My TATTOO iDOLSz..

Posted by: MzLady | Sep 25, 2007 4:20:11 AM

when you get a tattoo it doesnt matter whether or not it is grammatically correct or even if it is politically correct. what matters is what it means to you. if you get something stupid that at a later time you will regret then yeah you are retarded. but if you get something close to your heart then what does it matter if it is grammatically correct. leave her alone its her tattoo and her skin. dont critize something that you dont understand.

Posted by: abeast11 | Sep 23, 2007 10:48:24 PM

Man no doubt she is hot with her tattoos... I wonder if she has a boyfriend?

Posted by: lil herald | Sep 17, 2007 2:06:01 AM

I JUST WANT TO COMMENT ON HOW AWESOME SHE LOOKS WITH HER TATTOOS.

Posted by: NIKITA | Sep 12, 2007 2:48:03 PM

I think it's pretty hot.

Posted by: | Aug 13, 2007 1:17:12 PM

Not really relevant, but every time I see a whole bunch of lines of text tattooed on someone's skin -- poems, declarations of devotion, The Bill of Rights, etc. -- I always think of Kafka's short story "In the Penal Colony." That one's hard to get out of your head.

Maybe all young addle-headed prospective tattooees should read it first. Although it's really got nothing to do with tats.

Posted by: Flautist | Aug 3, 2007 4:56:27 PM

Now, see, this is the problem with tattoos. Get something that's ridiculous or grammatically incorrect, and it'll be part of your body until you have it seared off by a laser or something.

("...as if it WAS your own"? As if it WERE your own. Jeez.)

Posted by: Daniel Rutter | Aug 3, 2007 4:00:41 PM

With those tats, I see a job at Millers in her future.
