Picture Hook Springs — 'No more crooked paintings'
You got rid of the wire coat hangers, didn't you?
So maybe it's time to go beyond the nail.
From the website:
- Picture Hook Springs
No longer do you have to put up with pictures and paintings going cockeyed as doors slam or elephant feet run down the stairs.
Just place one of these conical springs under the head of a #6, #8 or #10 screw (not included) and tighten the screw until the space between the coils just allows you to slip the hanger wire between. The wire is pinched with sufficient friction to prevent it from sliding as the result of any vibration or shock less than 6 on the Richter scale.
Ten for $3.40.

I just put BluTak on the bottom corners of the picture. Stops it getting knocked about by the kids, too.
