Flautist, I can't imagine using my dogs for blush, they'd kill me :-)
Did he walk around with a pretty blush color on the tip of his tail all day?

Way back when I had a huge, plump, laid-back, twenty pound Siamese (cat), I once used his tail to blend in my blusher. I was doing my morning makeup routine in the bathroom and he always jumped up on the sink to supervise, and being in the standard hurry and realizing that the brushes were still wet from a rinse-out, I picked him up, turned him around, plopped him back down, bent down to hind end level and used the tip of his tail to blush and shade, smooth as silk.
However, I can't say that I would recommend that technique for use with all felines. If I tried with one of the two 8-month-olds I have now I would probably never need blusher again, being cheekless and probably also hairless and blind and dead.
