The interesting thing about this is that all it is doing is giving a YouTube frontend without the video. Nothing more.
I took a look at the code and it is pretty ingenious. Anyone with a slight bit of programming knowledge could do it. Most of the software is freeware...the most expensive thing is around $15 (The 'JW Media Player). Beyond that, a little dynamic html / AJAX for the 'Humanized' menuing system -- which looking at this, it is a project by Aza Raskin, the son of Jeff Raskin who was one of the biggest influences on the early Mac.
This site could be redone by almost ANYONE in a few days and run from their own site.
And that is one of the coolest things about it...no one has done it except Songza. Goes to show you that common sense isn't quite so common. I may have to borrow a few tricks for one of my own upcoming sites (music tutorials where hosting the media was the big reason I haven't launched yet...and using YouTube in its standard form was just too ugly).
Great site! Thanks for finding and posting this!

This is so cool. Sometimes the 30 seconds on itunes isn't enough to tell if the song is really worth buying for my nano. This lets me listen to the whole thing before I pony up the cash. I like it.
