Bvfdzygae

Can it be?

A brand extension — so to speak — of the classic?

From websites:

    Easy Crank Can Opener

Opening a can is easy with this modified classic featuring longer non-slip handles and a larger turning crank.

    Includes a bottle-opening hook.

    Rubberized handles.

    Stainless steel body.

    8-5⁄8"L x 1-3/4"W.

I was in one of those linen and housewares stores looking for a good pepper mill when I saw an array of $20-$40 can openers. What, I wondered, is the functional difference between one of them and the kind you get in the grocery store for $8.00? So I bought one.

The difference (besides the plush rubber handle) is the sharpness and durability of the cutting disk and the smoothness of operation. Like buttah! Years later it's still sharp and smooth.

So all the large crank on the featured product does is compensate for the dull cutting disk and cheap mechanicals.

This is what I really want - the old-fashioned can-opener that attaches to the wall (http://www.lehmans.com/jump.jsp?itemType=PRODUCT&itemID=4011).. grandma used to have one. Worked great!

This won't work at all. You'd have to lift to crank that lever and lifting cans while trying to open them is just not done. Flat on the countertop. God preordained it. I should know.
