Chocolate — Nothing But Chocolate — Tootsie Roll Pops (Finally)

Gipuhu9i

Constant readers will recall that I have stated on more than one occasion my love of chocolate Tootsie Roll Pops above all others.

Long story short: Years ago my local CVS stopped offering loose Pops in an open bin, putting paid to my habit of stopping by every couple weeks in the course of a run to poke through them and extract the six or seven chocolate iterations strewn amongst the myriad other flavors.

Last evening Mary Ann, who's just been added to my crack research team (though this may be the first she's heard of it, but never mind that) put up a comment with a link to a company that sells Pops by individual flavors — among them Chocolate (as well as Grape, Red Raspberry, Blue Raspberry, Orange and Cherry) — in bulk.

"Just the chocolate! Tootsie stopped packaging them that way, so we are pulling them out of the mix! We hand pick the Chocolate Tootsie Pops out just for you."

5 pounds for $48.

Vvvvvv

Heaven is a place on Earth.

An aside: I wonder what the geographic distribution of those who, like me, call them "Tootsie Roll Pops" is as opposed to the twice as prevalent "Tootsie Pops?"

Note added August 30, 2008 at 1:11 p.m.: Price/quantity break.

13 oz. (22 chocolate Tootsie Roll Pops) for $4.99 here.

Hold on, let me get my calculator... that's $6.14/lb. as opposed to $9.60/lb. above.

Picked up a pack of NEW Tootsie Pop DROPS. About the size of a dime, without the stick. Haven't been able to find them anywhere since.

I'm from Chicago and we called them Tootsie Roll Pops. I'm also over 50, if that tells you something.

As for 5 lbs. = $48, it's not so much the price as the amount that scares me.
