Is Scotsman Clark Aitken the world's most fanatic car detailer?

1dsgrrt

I'd nominate him (below), for sure.

Here he shows you — in copious detail richly interspersed with photos, a few of which appear above and below — how good a six-month-old Pearlescent Balloon White Lamborghini Gallardo with some 400 miles on it can look after he devotes a total of 55 hours (including 32 hours of machine polishing using the world's finest tools and materials) to it.

Wonder what he charges for what he calls the "Ne Plus Ultra™ Hyper Detail," the latest offering from Polished Bliss, his firm in Kintore, Scotland?

"This is a new service option we are offering to supercar owners throughout Scotland who want their vehicles to receive a detailing as close to perfection as physically possible (without replacing any parts or adding paint) leaving no surface untouched. No time limit is set for this service; it simply takes as long as it takes, over a minimum of 7 days (to allow enough time for multiple bespoke premium carnauba wax coats to fully cure)."

[via James Thornburg, who wrote, "The most meticulous car detailing I’ve ever seen. This guy is nuts."]

I must demur, James: I see little — if any — difference in his approach to a vehicle from mine to bookofjoe.

I will stop at nothing — nothing! — to get it right and Aitken's my twin in this regard.

Diss him, diss me.

You'll have plenty of company, that's for sure.

But I'm okay with that.

As another Scotsman, I think it only fair that someone like this exists to balance me out. It also takes me a long time to clean my car. My current car washing effort started 6 months ago and who knows, maybe in another 6 months time I might have flicked another dead fly off my windscreen.

You make me laugh Joe. This is you at your quintessential best.
