If you have to peel the garlic, you're halfway there already.

And notice the pitchman didn't actually show you how well the garlic was chopped, It seemed rather half-chopped to me.

I got one of these as holiday gift last year, and while very cute. They don't really work well. The amount of force you need to push down on the table with when you "Zoom" it considerable. It faster to just use a knife than to load and unload the thing anyway...

I saw this at Sur le Table before. I think it is just one of the cutest things I ever did see- I really wanted it but I couldn't justify it the expense for something so completely silly and unnecessary. But I'm not terribly dainty I suppose- I just do it the old-fashioned way and frankly I just don't notice the smell on my hands after I wash them, but I guess it would be there. The kitchen smells too much like garlic then, that's my excuse!!
