bookofjoe MoneyMaker®™© — iPhone Reader Preview
Yesterday's post about reading on an iPod touch got me to thinking about how someone with some computer savvy could create a website consisting solely of an iPod touch/iPhone-size screen window that let you select and read public domain books within it, so as to give a sense of what it might be like to read on the device, a sort of preview of coming attractions for people on the fence about whether to buy one.
Like all my MoneyMakers®™©, this one's worth precisely what you paid for it.

For iphone/touch try http://iphonetester.com/ It seems like you could just access samples of books/sites with one of many emulators (http://www.klauskomenda.com/archives/2008/03/17/testing-on-mobile-devices-using-emulators/).

There are a number of iPhone/iPod touch apps available that do this. I'm not sure whether any are absolutely free, but they're all quite nice.

The issue with this idea is that everyone is running different resolutions. Getting what you see on the computer to match a real iPod/iPhone would be a challenge.
You could always just use a ruler and make your browser the right size. Then just fire-up gutenberg.org.
