I don't know if I want to be on an airplane with a couple dozen cats and dogs and we hit some serious turbulence;)

Wait...you can't fly with your own dog? No deal.
There was an airline that was planning on offering dog companion tickets to humans. So, you could fly with your dog next to you.
There's no way I'd hand off my dog for a flight I wasn't on. What's more, they fly overnight and need two hours on either side of the flight to load up and unload. For a DC to NYC trip, that's too much of a hassle. I'd rather drive.

Hooray! I heard about this being in the works a while ago, but didn't think anything would come of it. I would never, ever check my dog. I actually considered driving to Florida for my next vacation. Thankfully, a neighbor jumped at the opportunity to dog sit. :)

Oh yeah -- I don't know about canines, but cats everywhere will probably start disappearing like crazy, turning up in Wyoming or Vancouver or something. Excuses? Well, they just needed a change, you know -- get out, meet some new peeps.
Hide your credit cards. You know they'll be booking trips for the dogs, too, to Siberia somewhere, one way.
