True Crime: The Robbery Channel
Long story short: Frustrated by yet another swarm theft — this one last week (Wednesday, May 13) — at Universal Gear, his Washington, D.C. clothing store, owner David Franco decided to strike back: he posted the actual surveillance video of the crime the next day on YouTube, where in six days it's received thousands of views and today, pride of place in Petula Dvorak's Washington Post front page story.
Note to Franco and other business owners with similar problems: don't wait to get the video up but, rather, insist that the surveillance company stream its videos in real time for anyone and everyone in the world to watch.

They had no intention of paying for the clothing. I wonder how many of them were armed as well...

I wonder if there's some tie in with the solution to the fire ants story here....

The fines should be double or more for "group" crimes!

"Note to Franco and other business owners with similar problems: don't wait five days to get the video up"
Actually Joe the Washington Post was a bit late on this story. 6 days in fact. The popular local blog DCist.com posted the video the day after it happened and YouTube upload date is May 14th.

How brazen. It was awful to look at knowing the outcome in advance. I hope they catch them all. Such a thing can't be tolerated.
