Classical Education Quiz

The story in Thursday's Telegraph began, "Thousands of students will receive their A-level results today, only to have their achievements questioned by the It-Was-So-Much-Harder-In-My-Day brigade. But how much did previous generations really learn, how much can they remember now and is there actually any benefit to a classical education? Take our quiz, and see if you can tell your Tantalus from your Tacitus...."

My score: 28 (of 44 questions).

I find it absolutely ridiculous... I went through the Canadian public school system, and I only got 12 right, and of the 12 that i got right, most of them I did not learn at school...

I got 29. Your frequent use of res ipsa loquitor gave me the one point advantage.

Mr Peach, that was mean of you to make that up. It's such a nice saying! Do visit some time, it's quite a site.

I surprised myself and got 30 right!

There is an old Italian saying that states: If you stand in the middle of the Patheon during a rain storm, close your eyes and let the rain fall on you face till someone taps you to please move, the next good dream you have will come true! The Patheon has fascinated me since I first read about it, I have gone to many libraries looking for pictures in great art books. Maybe one day I shall see it. Oh, I made up that Italian saying.
