'Inherent Vice' — Thomas Pynchon's soundtrack

Ipi

Wrote Jennifer Schuessler in last Sunday's New York Times Book Review, "Pynchon's novel ... comes with an entire soundtrack. At Amazon.com, Pynchon ... has posted a playlist of songs mentioned or overheard in the novel, from 'Soul Gidget' by Meatball Flag and 'Repossess Man' by Droolin' Floyd Womack (both fictional) to 'There's No Business Like Show Business,' sung by Ethel Merman (apparently real)."

Word.

His playlist appears up top.

I do a FABULOUS Ethel Merman impersonation on "There's No Business...", etc., and for a relatively inconsequential amount (PayPal; USPS money order) anyone can call me at anytime and I will deliver the goods. (Limit one per customer.)

Also, I spent a good part of my youth in my parents' kitchen with my across-the-street-neighbor's-kid-friend, belting out "Volare" into a large blue pepper grinder/microphone. Since I've continued the practice in my own kitchen, that one is honed to near-perfection by now. ("Nel blu, my Pinto is blue...")

I can hum "Telstar" for you, but there's no guarantee of satisfaction.

Just saying.

Lots of "feel good classics" in that list, wish I could hear them all.
