Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain
No small beer: in August it performed to a sold-out crowd at the BBC Proms music festival at the Royal Albert Hall.
Sarah Lyall's New York Times Arts section front page story yesterday was accompanied by a slide show.
Or just sit back and enjoy the music.

Richard Feynman's 1964 Lectures Now Online
From Terry Tao: "Seven videotaped lectures from 1964 by Richard Feynman given at Cornell, on 'The Character of Physical Law,' have recently been put online ... with a number of multimedia enhancements (external links, subtitles, etc.). These lectures, intended for a general audience, broadly cover the same type of material that is in his famous lectures on physics.

id•this — 'Human-powered identification of anything or anyone'
Interesting site forwarded last evening by the inimitable Joe Peach.
The caption for the photo above: "Hwy. 41 between Marquette and Negaunee, Michigan, in the 90s, and a storage facility. Was known locally as the 'Shootey Rocket.' What is it? A carnival ride?"

Automatic Odor Remediator
From the website:

Automatic Odor Remediator
Using
the same technology found in casinos and five-star hotels, this is the
most effective home odor-eliminating device available.
The device
automatically releases an invisible dry mist of odor-eliminating
microdroplets that are 100 times smaller and 1,000,000 times lighter
than aerosol mist droplets.
Unlike aerosol or plug-in sprays that
quickly fall to the floor, the lightweight microdroplets remain
airborne for up to 14 hours and drift to all corners of a room,
eliminating unpleasant odors produced by tobacco smoke, cooked food or
any foul smell, replacing it with a pleasant, subtle scent.
The
device covers up to 10,000 cubic feet (the equivalent of a 35' x 35' space
with 8' ceilings), neutralizing bad smells in two or three adjacent
rooms.
About the size of a box of tissues, the device sets up
unobtrusively on a table.
Includes one fragrance cartridge that lasts
up to 60 days (specify Pine, Lavender-Herb, or Citrus-Mint).
5-1/2"W x 5-1/4"D x 5-1/2"H.
Plugs into
AC.

MorphWorld: Simon Woodroffe into Jeff Garcia
The founder of YO! Sushi and YO! Brand (above) bears more than a passing resemblance to the itinerant quarterback (below),
released just two days ago by the Philadelphia Eagles, the sixth team he's been with in the NFL after his initial five years as a pro with the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL.
