Or on twitter you can follow the USGS Twitter Earthquake Detector @USGSted. This is a prototype system by the United States Geological Survey that itself tracks twitter responses to earthquakes.
The USGS also has an e-mail notification system for world-wide earthquakes at https://sslearthquake.usgs.gov/ens/.

If you are a Mac user you can download a really excellent widget for your dashboard called Tremor Skimmer, which shows worldwide earthquake activity practically as it's happening.
