How to open (undetectably) a locked bag with a ballpoint pen

Makes understandable all the reports of things gone missing from people's luggage.

Unless you believe you and I are the only ones who know this trick.

The Politician's Wife— A superb tale of political revenge

Qwertyu

This three-episode/one-disc DVD contains the complete UK broadcast edition seen on Masterpiece Theater, as well as a background essay by writer Paula Milne.

To say it's superb is an understatement.

Juliet Stevenson plays Flora Matlock, a prototypical stay-at-home politician's good wife married to a blood-on-the-lips stop-at-nothing cabinet minister with his eye on the very highest prize, that of becoming prime minister.

He strays from his marriage vows with a young researcher perfectly played by Minnie Driver, and then compounds his faux pas by lying about it to his wife, who instead of getting incredibly mad decides to get even — and then some.

Excellent.

Newsworthy — Wallpaper made from newspaper

Bs-newsworthy

That's different.

Tim McKeough featured the new wallcovering in an April 7, 2010 New York Times "Currents" feature, which follows.

Newspaper Finds Its Way Onto the Wall

Newsworthy, the latest wallpaper from Lori Weitzner, a textile and product designer, is made from strips of recycled newspaper woven together to create a textural surface. “It’s similar to grass cloth, which is a very popular wallcovering where they weave grass on a loom and layer it on paper,” Ms. Weitzner said. Replacing the grass with newspaper (you can still make out some of the text) was a way to create something “beautiful and interesting,” she said. The strips are woven with nylon thread to make the paper more durable and finished with a water-based topcoat that helps protect against yellowing and staining. Newsworthy is 47 inches wide and $125 a yard (to the trade). Information: (888) 609-5551, weitznerlimited.com.
