Invader x Rubikcubism
The French artist —
also known as Space Invader —
was recently featured in a solo exhibition at New York City's Jonathan Levine Gallery.
His first works were mosaics featuring Space Invaders
on the streets of Paris in the late 1990s.
His work has spread globally such that it can now be found
on the streets of over 40 cities around the world.
Recently he began using Rubik's Cubes to create 3-D sculptures
echoing the imagery found in his 2-D work,
a technique now referred to as "Rubikcubism," examples of which appear above.
