My new favorite portable radio
Sure, it costs a lot more (4x) than the smallest available iterations from Sony and Panasonic but it's well worth the extra cash for two reasons:
1. It picks up AM way better than anything in its size/weight class, both in terms of the number of stations and, equally important, the strength and clarity of the signals.
2. Its size — 3.5" x 2" x 0.6" (measured by me) and weight — 2.05 oz. on my postal scale.
Note that there's no speaker: you have to use earphones (enclosed).
Its form factor is remarkably similar to that of the long defunct iPod mini.
Finally, I can listen without static as Larry, Sonny and Sam call the woeful Redskins' games.
A digression: Can you believe this is Sonny and Sam's 31st season calling the games on Redskins radio?
The radio costs $40.77.

The brand was familiar and sure enough, I own its brother: http://www.amazon.com/Sangean-DT-400W-Digital-Weather-Pocket/dp/B0012YHQVE/ref=pd_sim_e_5
On alert in master bedroom 24/7 I change the Li batteries once a year. Coming from tornado alley to quake central, it has proved invaluable.
