Which "Immigrant Song" are you?
The original 1970 Led Zeppelin version (above) or last year's smashing iteration (below) by Karen O, Trent Reznor, and Atticus Ross for "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo?"

I'll tell you this: when I watched the opening of the movie, between the killer titles and song I almost needed a seat belt to remain in place, I got so revved up.
Tip: Be your own DJ and play both versions at the same time — great fun.

The Reznor version almost feels *too* polished. I like it, but listening to Led Zeppelin always makes me feel like everyone involved with the song had a lot of fun. Listening to the new version, it makes me feel as though scientists in lab coats tried to come up with the best re-imagining of the song possible, resulting in something technically excellent but emotionally void.
But I'm a huge Zep fan, so blah blah bias blah.

I like both artists. I grew up listening to zep on the local classic rock radio channel. I got into NIN in the early to mid 90s. I have to say that the zep version will always be better. If the NIN version did not have Karen O singing the NIN version may have been a pretty good match for the zep original!

But if we are talking about pure music, as someone who is a fan of early NIN, and never much of a fan of led zep, the led zep version by far.
