"Impressions" — Sebastian Martorana

Above, the artist's carved marble sculpture of a pillow indented by his late father-in-law's resting head.

The impression was that left after Martorana lifted his body from his deathbed.

The piece is part of a new show, "40 Under 40: Craft Futures," up through February 3, 2012, at the Renwick Gallery in Washington, D.C.
