By definition: if one owns a backpacking saw the better part of four (4) decade, then one is an old fart.
N.B. sharpening twit that I am, I've never had to address any issues with the Original Blade (save for a coating of silicone at the end of the season: to deter rust) in all of the time that I've owned it. The original leather thong is still in good shape!

Mine belonged to my dad - 40+ years old and gets used for tree trimming at home as well, though I've snapped a couple of blades over the years.

I've owned this saw for at least 36 years. It has been a solid, reliable, and invaluable tool on any trip made below treeline. It has but one small annoyance: it rattles as you walk.
