"When you need to breathe, you take a breath."
"'Breathe' is the verb, 'breath' the noun."
Just one of the many wonderful things you'll be more apt to remember should you take a flyer on Paul Brians' 2008 book, "Common Errors in English Usage, 2nd Edition."
Count me in.

I bought this book a while ago, thanks to one of your earlier posts, just to have on hand in case I ever needed to win a bet, but what I really like are the daily emails that he sends. He's funny, it's painless and arrogant as I am, I am periodically humbled by my own mistakes:

A request for readers who email me and/or comment: PLEASE give me a valid email address if you'd like me to respond directly. I cannot tell you how frustrating it is when I compose a detailed, personal reply, email it to the commenter's address, and get back "UNDELIVERABLE."
This happens on average once a day.
