Charles Laughton directs "Night of the Hunter" (1955)

Wrote Flautist, "Charles Laughton's off-camera voice directing Robert Mitchum and child actors Billy Chapin and Sally Jane Bruce in the famous river scene from 'The Night of the Hunter' (1955).  It's fascinating to watch Robert Mitchum, as terrifying psycho-preacher Harry Powell, utter one blood-curdling scream after another, none of which were the one used in the film. This clip shows the little girl singing the haunting 'Pretty Fly' tune in her own voice.  (In the film it was dubbed by an adult singer.)"

Below, the river scene as it appears in the movie..
