Noisy Typer — "A typewriter for your laptop"
I happened on this app for Mac in July and sent a link to it on to Paul Biba, who instantly installed it and loves it still.
I sat next to him as he used it and darned if it doesn't sound like you've got an old-fashioned typewriter, complete with "ding" at the end of each line, inside your computer.
Free, the way we like it.

If you want to really be nostalgic, the early word processors had sounds as a standard feature.
For Windows users (haven't tried it): http://www.grc.com/freeware/clickey.htm
