Mine arrived two hours ago.

I immediately turned off my house's central heating (it's currently 55° outside) and defaulted to this puppy, placed about five feet away from me.

Verdict: Stupendously good.

Nearly silent, effective, and quite elegant in appearance.

Very much like Gray Cat, as I think about it.

The heater: $108.58.

Gray Cat: Priceless.

Apologies, I'm not one to write "wow, great, neat, cool, fantastic". I see no point in doing so - when something is nice and useful, as is the case with most of the stuff here I smile and move on (or actually put it on my shopping list; I think it was here that I saw the bamboo pick-up chop sticks back in the summer and today the calendar notification came up on my mobile - they had told me it'd be available in November, and I intended to buy a few and comment on their quality once I got them).

When something is offered which is not good (like an air heater) or simply silly, old and non-existant (colour picker?? fantastic iPhone advantages?) I find it much more useful to comment. But fair enough, I see your point as the writer and I will also start adding positive comments.

As for this particular one, though, the science behind heating a room is well understood since time immemorial, and air heaters are the lesser brothers... Sure, as far as similar products go it might be good, but nothing beats a good old resistance-based heater (very silent, too), unless your cat tries to lick it (not sure cats that stupid exist).

Also, it would be great if it dispensed Ben & Jerry's Butter Pecan Ice Cream (still my favorite after all these years).

Would be wonderful if it was battery powered, too.

Unfortunately, some people are congenitally doomed to find fault rather than upside.

Have you ever once made a positive comment here?

I can't recall it if you have and I've been around pretty much full-time since inception.

For the record: This machine did a wonderful, speedy, nearly silent job of heating my family room (18' x 26') where I am sitting right now about 15 feet away from it.

Temperature in the room: 69°

Temperature outside the giant glass sliding patio doors: 42°

I turned off the heater about an hour ago and the room — and I and, far more important, Gray Cat — are all still toasty warm.

Hmmmm....

Unfortunately, air-heating devices (such as air-conditioners or room heaters) are inherenly much les effective than ratiation-type methods. Yes, it may work for you if you place it next to you, but it does very little to heat a room - and once you turn it off, you can kiss the heat good-bye...

Doesn't this critter come with a remote control?
