BehindTheMedspeak: "Why Sexed Up Screening is Bad for Your Health" — Dr. Margaret McCartney will sort you out in a Glasgow minute

Actually, it took her 48 minutes to put paid to the notion that screening keeps you healthy.

In fact, contends the Scottish fury, bane of Big Pharma (and she's just getting started) — screening can kill you.

I find it amazing that no U.S. publisher has yet to sign her up while she's still pretty much a cipher on this side of the pond: she'd be cheap at 10 times the trivial price it would cost to bring her explosive first book — "The Patient Paradox: Why Sexed Up Medicine Is Bad for Your Health" — to our local bookshops.

Fair warning.

Her August 11, 2012 invited talk at Cardiff University (top) was part of that school's "Science in Health" public lecture series.

Her Twitter is alive and vibrant.
