Wearing shoes like this is what suddenly brought a premature end to Lady Gaga's tour and landed her in the hospital for emergency hip surgery eight days ago.

Her 12-inch platforms (below),

a 2012 design by Noritaka Tatehana, are said to resemble what you'd get "if a ballerina's pointe shoe mated with a cement boot."

I won't argue.

Both shoes along with 148 others are part of the show "Shoe Obsession," up at The Museum at FIT in New York City through April 13.
