Panasonic Solar Lantern with High-Powered LED Lights and Rechargeable Battery: Sum of all fears for power companies
Developed for use in the Third World where electricity doesn't exist,
this breakthrough device heralds the end of the great electric utilities in the developed world.
It is becoming very clear that power companies realize solar can disembowel their business models by enabling every person on the planet to eventually generate all the power they need without being connected to a grid.
Thus, the sudden turnabout in Big Electric's attitude toward solar panel subsidies: where they once encouraged them, they've now enlisted all manner of high-priced legal help to forestall and slow walk and delay the inevitable.
What a wonderful time to be alive.
I myself have figured out how to power my house when the power goes down by using my car and a serious inverter, but that's only a stopgap till Mr. Sol takes over 24/7/365.
I'll be getting one of these Panasonic lanterns the day they become available and I'll feature them here at that time.
