Catme 13/Glass Effect 97: 14th and State in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where I lived when I was 8 years old in 1956 — through Google Glass
This past Monday it was eerily wonderful standing at the intersection where I lived 57 years ago.
The building I lived in is gone, replaced by a sizable apartment complex that serves as housing for Marquette University people.
It was a small two story brick building whose address was 959 North 14th Street.
There was a grocery store on the ground floor and apartments on both the ground and upper floors.
The entrance to our place was on the 14th Street side, about midway down the length of the building.
As best I can recall we — my mother, my little brother (three years younger than me) and myself — lived upstairs in a two-bedroom apartment.

Earlier this year I had a similar experience, perhaps more positive since my childhood home is still there. Actually being there brought back so much more than I'd remembered, and time seemed compressed.
PS-Thank you for introducing us to Cary, what a beautiful friendship!

I guess the saying "you can't go home again"
is true for a lot of us.
