The slow evolution of electrical power generation in the U.S. 2007-2017
The U.S. Energy Information Agency (EIA) recently published two interesting sets of maps to show how the U.S. energy mix has changed state by state between 2007 and 2017.

"The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life" — Erving Goffman
A classic, first published in 1956.
Anyone who reads it will improve the quality of their life without much effort.
A snip starting at $6.23.
The copy I bought back in 1999
was prolly my second or third over the decades.
The Amazon reviews
for once are spot-on.
But don't take their word for it: I like this book so much, this is an encore of last year's presentation in this space.
Experts' Expert: How to maximize your champagne's bubbles
Wrote Alice Lascelles in 1843, the Economist's bimonthly magazine, "It helps if the glasses haven't been cleaned too well; the fibers cast off from paper and cloth create the tiny air pockets — or nucleation sites — that bubbles need to form. If you poured champagne into a glass that was surgically clean, it wouldn't bubble at all."
Designer Fire Extinguisher
What took so long?
From the website:
Safe-T have given the traditional fire extinguisher a touch of style.
These chic, bold, and unique devices offer a modern take on a very traditional item, and are just as efficient as their red counterpart.
While you still legally need to have a red fire extinguisher in public places and company spaces, no one's stopping you from having a designer model in your home.
Built per the strictest CE safety standards and made from the highest quality materials, Safe-T are the swankiest fire extinguishers you’ll ever own, dressed up for show and ready to be seen.
