Tootsie Roll Pops Announces Three New Flavors!
Whoa, Momma.
This is big.
First contact with extraterrestrial intelligence will just have to wait.
I noticed, when I opened my new bag of Tootsie Roll Pops this morning, that there was a green one in there.
Green?
There's no green Tootsie Roll Pop.
I looked at the bag, and saw a blurb on the front, "Watch for NEW FLAVORS!"
On the back of the bag, it said to visit www.tootsieroll.com for more information.
So, that was today's first order of business after turning on the computer.
And what did I find?
That, indeed, they've added not one, not two, but THREE new flavors:
Strawberry, Watermelon, and Blue Raspberry.
Oops.
'Cause I was sure, while I was savoring my very first ever greenie, that it was Lime.
I guess maybe it's true what some people say: they all taste the same, they just have different colors.
I've often thought that's what McDonald's does: create one kind of "Soylent McDonald," then shape, form, color and chemical-ize it into their various menu items. But I digress.
The new flavors are being carefully introduced, with but one of the three new ones present in any one bag.
[Full disclosure: there were two green Watermelon ones in my bag.]
For your information, not that you don't already know this - one of the fundamental facts of American life (in fact, this would be a good question to ask a suspected deep cover foreign intelligence agent), the five original flavors are chocolate, orange, cherry, raspberry, and grape.
I challenge anyone to successfully distinguish - in the dark - the new Blue Raspberry from the old [Red] Raspberry.
One nice thing about Tootsie Roll Pops in the bag is the clear window they provide to see what the mix is inside.
With the new flavors, you can choose exactly which one you want to try first.
Or, kids, be like me, and try 'em all!
FunFact: Amazon includes Tootsie Roll Pops in its new "Gourmet Foods Beta" department, where you can buy a box of 100 for $12.50.
FunFact #2: On the Tootsie Roll Pops bag (toward the lower left), it says, "A Fat Free Candy Since 1931."
I suspect this factoid was added to the packaging sometime closer to 2004 than to 1931.
Ya think?

I buy tootsie roll pops by the bags. However, the only flavor that I like is cherry. I end up giving all of them away except the cherry. I average only 4 to 5 cherry suckers per bag! Is there aywhere you can purchase just cherry?

I'm not kidding. I had a deprived childhood and a Tartar for a mother. Tried my first McDonalds cheeseburger when I was 15. She kept saying her made at home versions were better (and she was right). I always wanted Hawaiian Punch (you remember that Bev?). Never let me taste it. She'd make her own natural fruit juices for my sister and I while she told us we were getting the real thing. Tootsie rolls? Not a pop, not a lick, not a roll. We hardly had candy in our house either. Candy she didn't prohibit altogether but when I did indulge, chocolate was always my thing. Someday you shall have to educate me. Rocketboy already has a leg up on you the way I see it.
Rocketboy: You make me laugh. Not as much as Bev (or even Joe on occasion) but you make me laugh.

I have never ever tasted a tootsie roll. The fact that they now make em in green isn't going to make much difference to me then.

You got two of the three new Tootsie Pop flavors right. The third is pomegranite not strawberry

A candy company that packages some tootsie pop flavors in individual flavors, i.e., all cherry, all grape. ENJOY!
Posted by: MARY ANN | Aug 26, 2008 6:00:41 AM
I have been eating "pops" daily for 62 (1946) years:PLEASE put Lemon BACK IN the mix. I don't know when you dropped it but I have never forgotten. You could kill chocolate or cut back on the cherry.

The wrappers with the indian and the star on them.
does that have any significance other than the other pictures that are on them????

I recently got a bag with the new flavors, and inside was the best flavor I have ever hed: Pommegranite. It was so GOOD. It had an orange wrapper with dark red lettering. LOOK FOR IT.

Right around October 2007, sometime, I did get a green (lime) tootsie pop and I absolutely loved it!! It was NOT watermelon in the pink wrapper (with green sucker), it was indeed,a LIME sucker. A green sucker in a green wrapper.,,,,,,,, and now they are gone!! It was my favorite. Where did they go???? I could swear, that I remember from my childhood, that in the original flavors, there were lime and even lemon tootsie pops. Am I insane??

Brenda and Ferell et al.
Ma'am
The following site came up in a google search: http://www.candyfavorites.com/Tootsie-Roll-Industries-c-132-p-4.html
You may wish to try yourself or choose to try in a few days where the results will be different. I always loved the chocolate flavor (or flavour) until I tried the rasberry which is now my absolute favorite. Not trying anything new because I have this battle going on between sweets, candy and my waistline, not kidding, and not going to lose that one!!)
Note to all: not a guarantee of amnesty nor world peace :)
Regards,
Some sarcastic idiot :)

Many years ago we used to buy bag after bag of the tootsie pop midgees--no stick, just small tootsie pops wrapped individually--all the wonderful flavors. What happened to these? Did they quit making them or what? What is the possibility of bringing these back for old times sake? These were great for putting in your purse or carrying in your pocket. Also, we haven't seen your new flavors in any of the bags we've purchased--live in Valdosta,Ga. We look forward to a responce. Thank-you, sincerely, Brenda and Ferrell Singletary

I have been eating tootsiepops all my life and the new blue rasberry is not up to your standard of flavor, plus there are too many of them in the box. We buy them by the box.

You can purchase individual bags - just do a google search for "your favorite flavor tootsie roll pops"... and scroll down - there is a company that sells individual flavors in like 5 pound quantities. PARADISE!!!!!! No more hideous chocolate tootsie roll pops
Posted by: Dawn | May 22, 2007 9:37:08 PM
I love the orange. Wished we could buy them individually.

I wish you would put only chocolate pops in some bags, can't hardly find any with some chocolate in them. Thanks

i always thought that if you had a tootsie pop rapper with a star on it you got a free tootsie pop but i read something and it sayed that that was just a myth, is that true or is that website lying

I have been buying your tootsie pop's for a very long time now,and I do like all the flavors. I buy the 100 ct. box at Sam's Club for all these years. My grand-childern now love coming hear for their favorite flavor. I bought a box today and noticed they are smaller as I always use the same large jar. I understand why the price would go up, but was shocked at the size.

I love the watermelon pops but I can't find them often enough. I would also like to try a pineapple pop very much.

IS it true that if u have a star on your rapper of your toootsie roll pop, if u send it in u get a free bag of tootsie roll pops? If so please email me at [email protected] for where to send it to.

I for one am very happy to see the lime tootsie pops back. I am 67 years old and love lime tootsie pops. I waited along time. Thanks.

I absolutely loved my Tootsie Pops before, now the bags are all loaded down with the new flavors I don't care for. I just want my old favorites. Can't you bag the new ones seperately? If someone wanted new flavors they could buy them. We don't!!!
Posted by: Carla | May 5, 2006 9:06:21 PM
How do I purchase the new flavors? Can not find a site that offers them,? not even he original site. Also I want to order "Just Cherry". Can you help? Thanks

There were pineapple Tootsie Pops in the 1950s. They were my favorite. I think they should sell the chocolate one separately. They are the worst. Tootsie Pops are best when they're sour!
Posted by: Lomo | Nov 6, 2005 11:21:31 AM
Why is there a star on some of the tootsie roll pop rappers?
Posted by: Toni | Oct 30, 2005 3:50:26 PM
Maybe my memory is mistaken, but I thought I remembered a pineapple flavored tootsie pop. If so, why are they no longer made, and is there anywhere that possibly might still make them?

Each time I buy a bag of Tootsie roll pops my bag has a lot of cherry. I try to find one with a lot of grape but all I find is 2 or 3 .
Put in more GRAPE .

I've been eating tootsie roll pops as long as I can remember and I just love them. I like the new flavors but my favorite is the chocolate and orange. Problem is there is never enough of those flavors in the bag. I remember many years ago you had a lemon flavor tootsie roll pop and it was one of my favorites but then you did away with it and I would like to know why and if you ever plan on getting the lemon flavor back.
Posted by: melissa | May 29, 2005 5:37:24 PM
All the new flavors are just great. But my husband and I quit smoking 3 weeks ago and tootsie roll pops are the only thing we agree on. He likes orange and choc I agreed to eat the others works out great until I pick up a bag get it home(we live 12 miles from town) open it up and low and behold--no choc and one orange--now I have a husband with 1 pop and no smokes. He says he will get some the next day when he is at work. He buys 2 bags and ends up with 3 orange and 1 choc. so new is nice but old worked great.we are going to buy another bag and see what happens...
Posted by: sandy | Feb 6, 2005 3:51:18 PM
my husband and i buy one bag per week, we love the tootsie pops and the new ones are great, we just want to know why there is only one or two chocolate ones in the bag at a time? we both like the chocolate the best so we fight over them.

MK you are right on the nose. It has become tame and almost news station like clone. I have actually had a young stud boyfriend for the past 4 months and havent been online for awhile. But whenever I take a glimpse I am shocked at the Bushness of it all. What happened Joie???? Do you need a good BJ or what.
