'An Equal Music'

Perhaps the best book I've read so far this year.

Which gets me wondering about how many there've been so far.

I'd guess maybe 100? 150? Somewhere in that range.

Two, three, four a week on average. But I digress.

This book was recommended to me by someone very near and dear.

We haven't ever met - yet.

But we will. But I digress.

I love books about music, though I can't read a note or carry a tune or play an instrument except kazoo.

Past favorites include Thomas Mann's "Death in Venice" and Eugenia Zuckerman's "Deceptive Cadence."

"An Equal Music" joins these.

A perfect book for bedtime: contemplative, dreamy, thoughtful, heartfelt.

[Thank you, O, for this gift - and those to come]
